News & Announcements

As your new President of OCHA I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who attended our 2008 Annual Meeting and Conference held at Mohican state park on April 25, 2008. For those of you who did not attend, we missed you. I have not yet received a summary of the evaluations. However, general feedback has been positive.

The planning and implementation of our annual meeting and conference is a huge undertaking and would not be possible without the dedicated board members and OCHA members who give so generously of their time and talents. And to all of you I am eternally grateful. Also, the vendors who so generously provide monetary support as well as attending the conference providing valuable resources and information and the fun little give a ways, play an iatrical part in the success of the event. Their support also allows us to keep the registration fee affordable.

I would also like to thank the outgoing board members and welcome the new. Glenna Rufo and Betty DeSilvio from Bowling Green State University have served on the board for several years and they will be missed. Thank you ladies. Welcome to Denise Smith; vice president, Denise Ross; Secretary and Melissa Smith Board Member at Large. We look forward to working with you in the future. Welcome aboard!

The Silent Auction was a huge success again this year, raising almost $500.00 and will allow us to offer mini grants again next year. Information on how and when to apply will be forthcoming.

Additionally, the new and improved by laws were presented and approved during the business meeting and are available on the web site. Just click on by-laws in upper left hand corner.

Finally, we welcome your input. How can OCHA better meet the needs of our membership? Do you have ideas or suggestions for next year’s annual meeting? Would you like to be a part of the planning committee? Hold a position on the board? Please, feel free to contact me or any board member.

As we complete another academic year, I wish you all a happy, healthy and safe summer break, (if you get one), and look forward to serving as your president in the coming year.

President, OCHA
